More good news from UMC. Officials there say they have recruited another 100 Flu shots from area clinics and will be giving those from their mobile unit Tuesday, which will be parked outside United Market Street at 50th and Indiana from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. The Flu shots are $15
Remember, the CDC recommends that with our limited supply, the Flu shot should be made available to those who need it most, that means seniors age 65 and older and those who suffer from chronic conditions like asthma, diabetes, or some immuno-suppressant illness. That doesn't mean you can't get help if you're healthy and want Flu protection. Just go inside Market Street to the pharmacy and ask for Flu Mist.
All United pharmacies are making Flu Mist available to anyone between the ages of five and 49. Just call first to make sure the person designated to give Flu Mist is there when you stop by.
Don't forget you need to be generally in good health and not pregnant to get Flu Mist because the nasal vaccine is made from a weak version of the live virus instead of the killed virus you get in a flu shot. So it may trigger a runny nose or sore throat in some people while the vaccine helps the body build up protection.
Flu Mist at United pharmacy will cost you $56. But there is a $25 rebate right now that would lower the cost to $31. Be sure to ask about that if you are interested in getting Flu Mist.
