All is Calm on Christmas in the Hub City

On Wednesday, the South Plains Mall and other stores around town were busy with last minute shoppers, but Christmas was a completely different story.

If you drove around Lubbock Thursday you might have noticed - nothing! Nearly every city street was empty as families stayed home to enjoy the holiday.

Parking lots that were packed less than 24 hours ago were deserted, and even stores usually open around the clock shut their doors.

NewsChannel 11 was able to find one place to get those last minute holiday items. All Lubbock Walgreens locations were open Christmas, and stayed pretty busy.

Hundreds of cars filled the Tinseltown parking lot at 82nd St. and University on Thursday. Lubbock theaters offer numerous movies for both children and adults.
