Local Soldier Returns Home From Iraq

One Lubbock military family got the best Christmas gift just a few days after the holiday; their soldier returned home from Iraq Saturday. Sergeant Phillip Alexander was stationed in Germany for more than 3 years, but about 7 months ago, when he was suppose to head home to Lubbock, he was sent to Iraq instead. Now after serving in Baghdad he says he's happy to be home.

"It's undescribable. I can't put it in words, I can tell you that it's a long flight and a long planning process. When you think you're leaving then you don't, then you go someplace like a Iraq you just anticipate it everyday."

Phillip says he's going to rest and take it easy for a while, and that he's ready for some good ol' Texas Bar-B-Q.

The June 12 summit, planned for Singapore, offers a historic chance for peace on the peninsula - but also the risk of an epic diplomatic failure that would allow the North to revive and advance its nuclear weapons program.
