Lubbock ISD officials are asking the City to close Avenue T next to Lubbock High School. The street closure would make room for a cafeteria renovation.
City Council considers the idea on Thursday, including public comments at 7:30 AM. The cafeteria expansion is part of a plan to keep students on campus during the lunch hour rather than letting them go to nearby restaurants.
Lubbock ISD voters last year approved $4.4 million for the Lubbock High Cafeteria as part of an overall bond issue worth $198 million.
