Floydada Teen Killed While Cleaning Hunting Rifle

A fatal accident early Monday morning is now under investigation in Hale County.

13-year-old Cade Wayne Miller, of Floydada, and two 14-year-old friends were cleaning their guns around one o'clock Monday morning. The three were allegedly preparing to go on a hunting trip. That's when a 22-lever action rifle discharged and the bullet struck Miller in the chest.

He was pronounced dead at Covenant Hospital in Plainview.
