While the Goin' Band from Raiderland was performing in the Houston Bowl, band members were in mourning. Texas Tech Sophomore Mayra Deloa was killed in Dallas on December 20th. Dallas police arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the death, which possibly began has a domestic dispute.
The 19-year-old from Garland played Piccolo in the Goin' Band.
This is the second year a band member has died during the winter break. Last year, Tuba Player Omar Jesus Garcia was killed in a traffic accident near Menard.
