Study Shows Kids Consume Too Much Fast Food

A report in the January issue of Pediatrics says kudos to you if your New Year's resolution is to encourage better eating habits for your family.

It says a study of 6,200 children from ages 4 to 19 finds that on any given day a third of the nation's kids are going through a fast food line to order dinner, and that's five times more than the fast food line-up in the 1970's.

Specifically, the study says it all adds up to kids today are getting as many as a quarter of all the calories they consume from fast food and sodas, both of which are high in fat and sugar. The research comes from a USDA food intake survey.
