Lubbock Judge To End Strip Club Debate

A Lubbock Judge will decide whether a new strip club will be built in South Lubbock County. On Monday, County Commissioners appointed Judge Jim Dulin as the hearing examiner.

About two weeks ago, the county denied Lawrence Cannon's application for a permit to build the club. That's because a county ordinance states a sexually oriented businesses can not be within 1,500 feet of a church, school or a residence. A 38 foot RV currently sits near the proposed location. However, Cannon is appealing the ordinance, saying the RV is not a permanent residence.

Judge Dulin is expected to make a decision by the middle of the month.
