Cyclones stun #19 Red Raiders

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

A week after getting a signature road win at #1 Oklahoma, the 19th ranked Red Raiders couldn't get anything going in a stunning 41-7 home loss to Iowa State in front of 59,260 at Jones AT&T Stadium.

The Cyclones came in 0-4 in the Big 12 but jumped out to a 21-0 lead. Seth Doege's 8 yard touchdown run was the lone scoring drive for the Red Raiders in the entire game.

Last week Tech led Oklahoma 24-7 at the half and this week the Red Raiders trailed Iowa State 24-7 at halftime.

The Big 12 offensive player of the week, Seth Doege was 16 of 32 for 171 yards, 2 interceptions and no touchdown passes.

The stats were alarming:

Total offense: Iowa State 513 yards  Red Raiders 290

Rushing yards: Iowa State 368  Red Raiders 99

Turnovers:  Iowa State 1 Red Raiders 3

Time of possession: Iowa State 41 minutes Red Raiders 19!

Losing their 3rd straight game at home, Tech falls to 5-3 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12. This loss keeps the Red Raiders from becoming bowl eligible.

Tech now visits Texas next Saturday at 11 a.m. in Austin.
