LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Mild weather coming up
today, very seasonable. The average high is 73 degrees, and that is my forecast
for today. Skies will be sunny, winds reasonable (South 5-15, occasionally
10-20 MPH this afternoon).
This Halloween evening will be mild with dry and mostly fair skies. Winds will
not be much of a factor at around 10 MPH (from the south). Lubbock area
temperatures will range from about 69 degrees at 6 PM to 59 degrees at 9 PM.
Tomorrow will be warmer, then Wednesday colder following a strong cold front. I
expect the wind will bring some blowing dust, but I don't expect a repeat of
the 1950s-style dust storm of a couple weeks ago. Then again, I also don't
expect rain, at least nothing significant.
Another strong front will blow through this weekend. Currently it looks like
late Saturday morning. Some dust, no rain.
Lubbock will close out October with 1.34 inches of precipitation, which
includes a trace of snow. The average for October is 1.92 inches.
For the year the precipitation total is 4.08 inches. This is a distressing
13.42 inches below Lubbock's Year-To-Date average, and still well behind the
record driest year of 1917 with 8.73".
