Ralls Man in Stable Condition After Wreck

An area man is in stable condition after he wrecked and became trapped in his vehicle Saturday. The accident happened about six miles north of Lorenzo on Farm Road 378 just after 9:00 p.m.

DPS officials say 78 year-old Wayland Houchin ran into the back of a tractor that was pulling a plow. The tractor was knocked off the road dragging Houchin's van with it.

The van then flipped on its side, trapping Houchin for more than 30 minutes. Jaws of Life was used to pull him from the vehicle.

He was then flown by Aerocare to Covenant Medical Center where he remains in stable condition. Ironically, two of the emergency workers fighting to save Houchin's life were his son and grandson, who are both members of the area volunteer departments.

The driver of the tractor, 73 year-old Marvin Pair, had minor injuries. Details of what caused this wreck are under investigation.
