Do you know someone in the Armed Forces? Perhaps someone in your family is serving right now. Maybe your grandfather died in battle. Or your son or daughter was recently wounded overseas.
Everyone of us has some connection to a soldier. And starting this Thursday, everyone of us has a unique opportunity to honor those men and women. It's a chance to say thanks. Thanks to those who are serving, have served, and those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. And to do this you don't even have to leave your home.
Simply turn your porch light on at sunset Thursday and leave it on through sunrise Saturday. A simple gesture for the true heroes who have afforded us real freedom.
The light will also serve as a symbol to help lead our troops through the fog of war currently being waged in Iraq and Afghanistan, and a prayer to come home safely.
So join me, sunset Thursday through sunrise Saturday. Let's show them we will never forget their sacrifices.
