New Information In 2003 Lubbock Unsolved Murder Case

Lubbock County authorities may be one step closer to solving last year's murder of Cynthia Palacio.

Palacio's partially nude body was found July 15th in a bar ditch West of Slaton. Autopsy reports showed the 21-year-old was strangled.

Now, aggravated assault charges have been filed against a Connecticut man and former Lubbock resident David Meredith. He's currently in a Connecticut Jail on un-related charges. Lubbock authorities plan to extradite Meredith to Texas on the aggravated assault charge when court proceedings there are complete.

While in Lubbock, Meredith will be questioned for any connection to the Palacio murder. At this time authorities are referring to him as a person of extreme interest, not saying he's a suspect or a witness.
