LISD considers joining lawsuit against the state

Posted: Updated:

There are currently two lawsuits pending against the state. One is over the state's budget for education funding. The other is for how that money is distributed among schools.

LISD School Board President James Arnold says Lubbock deserves its fair share. "I feel pretty confident to say we're going to join a lawsuit...I don't know that we have a consensus on the board right now, but we'll meet to discuss it in the coming week and will make a decision on which side to join... It's just a matter of which side."

LISD receives, on average, about $5,000 dollars per child. The school district in Austin receives about $6,500 per child.
