Now onto the Top and Low Performing restaurants.

It's Top Performance number 4 for Jo Jo's at 811 50th Street, where a hard working staff and a no-fail plan make the difference. "In the morning when we come in basically we start cleaning everything and check for oven, refrigerator thermometers, make sure everything's clean and ready to go for the customer before we open the place up," says owner Merhdad Firouz.

Specializing in popular stand by's like burgers and fries, the people at Jo Jo's want their customers to keep expecting what this restaurant has been delivering for years. "We want to have them see we have a clean place and good food and you know just good service and they'll be happy to come back again," said Firouz.

Also earning a perfect score, Country Plate Diner at 1301 50th Street. They're a repeat Top Performer, once again earning zero critical violations.

The bakery at Sam's Club at 43-04 West Loop 289 is also on top, with zero critical violations.

The only Low Performer is Souper Salad at 6703 Slide road with four critical violations.

  • Potato salad was holding at 49 degrees, tuna salad was found at 48 degrees and cantaloupe was found at 50 degrees. Cold foods must be kept at 41 to 45 degrees or cooler.
  • A personal drink was found near the soda machine.
  • Spoiled cabbage leaves were found in a box with cabbage. Food items must be in sound condition.
  • A soiled knife was found in the knife rack. Food contact surfaces of equipment and utensils must be clean, sanitized and in good repair.

The Manager at Souper Salad told NewsChannel 11 they had a good talk with the inspector, and that there are several new employees at the restaurant. He also said they are working very hard on training and that all violations were corrected on site. The report shows all violations were corrected on site.
