It was one year ago that a bioterrorism scare broke out in Lubbock and it all started with a report that 30 vials of Bubonic Plague Bacteria were missing.
Once that information was released, Dr. Thomas Butler became the center of a federal investigation. An investigation that would lead to criminal charges, a federal trial and the termination of his job at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center. Butler was found guilty on 47 of 69 federal charges, including theft, embezzlement and fraud.
A judge has yet to decide his punishment, that is expected some time next month.
