TTU Police Chief Accepts New Position

The Texas Tech Chief of Police has accepted another position at the University - Executive Director of Public Safety and Emergency Management.

Jay Parchman will now be in charge of crime prevention and he will oversee security issues at athletic events. Parchman has been Chief of Police for more than a decade and will continue to serve in that position until a replacement is found. If you'll recall last year, a survey showed that a number of department employees had lost confidence in his management.

On Thursday, University Spokeswoman Sally Post said that was not a factor in the chief's change of positions.
