Free Tax Help For Lubbock, Plainview, Slaton, Hale Center

Free help with basic tax returns will be offered, beginning Saturday January 17th in Lubbock, Slaton, and Plainview by the Coalition of Community Assistance Volunteers.

Eligible are persons who have low and limited income, who have disabilities, who are non-English speaking, and who are elderly.

The counseling will be provided at the following locations:

  • Mahon Library, 1306 9th Street in Lubbock, from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through April 10th.
  • Senior Citizens Center, 230 W. Lynn in Slaton, from 9 a.m. to noon every Saturday through April 10.
  • The Hale County Senior Citizens Center, 1107 Smythe in Plainview, from 9a.m. to noon every Saturday through April 10.

Appointments are required for Slaton and Plainview. The numbers to call are 828-3784 in Slaton and 296-5201 in Plainview.

Other locations will be:

  • The Patterson Library, 1836 Parkway in Lubbock; Monday, Wednesday, and Friday; January 21 through April 14, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.; 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays only, beginning January 26.
  • Maggie Trejo Supercenter, 3200 Amherst in Lubbock, Tuesdays and Thursdays, February 4 through April 15; 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Persons seeking assistance must bring social security cards for each taxpayer and dependent; picture I.D. for taxpayers; all forms, W-2 and 1099s; information for other income; information for all deductions/credits; copy of 2002 tax return.

For direct deposit of refund, they must bring voided check for checking and/or deposit slip for savings.
