One person is hospitalized with stab wounds after an incident near Texas Tech.
Lubbock Police Lieutenant Neal Barron says Cory Austin Lilley, 20, was in an altercation inside Bash Riprock's off Broadway and University around 1:40 a.m. Wednesday. Lilley did not want to pay his $40 bill and left, according to police.
Mike Fuquay, the owner of Bash Riprock's, says Lilley attempted to punch a security guard and that's when he was thrown out of the bar. Fuquay says security cameras recorded the entire incident.
Fuquay says Lilley was an ex-employee and his application said he was 22 years old.
Police say after Lilley left, he got into a car accident at 1000 University. He then walked to his Texas Tech's Bledsoe Hall, police say, where he stabbed himself in the chest with a pocket knife on the dormitory steps. Witnesses called police to report the incident.
Lilley was taken to University Medical Center. UMC says Lilley is a security patient and his condition can not be released.
Police say alcohol may have been a contributing factor and TABC is investigating. Lilley could face a possible driving while intoxicated charge and theft of services charge.
Fuquay says Bash Riprock's is an 18-and-over bar.
