Looking for new holiday music? Five Lubbock physicians have rallied together by replacing their medical instruments with musical ones to raise funds to help the American Cancer Society create a world with less cancer and more birthdays. The Attendings will be at The Junior League of Lubbock's Holiday Happening Saturday, November 19 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Civic Center to sell their latest CD and to sign autographs. CDs will also be for sale Nov. 17-20 at the event.
Locally known as The Attendings, guitarists Richie Rosen, M.D., Lowry Schaub, M.D. and Tom Windisch, M.D. blend a musical harmony with bass player Jeff Paxton, M.D. and drummer Brad Snodgrass, M.D., to create an acoustical holiday rock sound.
"Playing music is something we enjoy doing, and it's important for us to help fund the research needed to discover new and improved treatment options for our patients," said Dr. Rosen, general surgeon with Lubbock Surgical Associates.
In 2004, the group released their first Christmas CD, "Holiday Blues in Greens," under the group's original name, Doctors and Their Guitars. About 2,500 CDs were donated to the American Cancer Society, raising approximately $35,000 to help fund the ACS's mission to eliminate cancer.
They recently released their second instrumental CD of holiday music, "Another Christmas on Call," available for $15. One hundred percent of the proceeds from both CDs benefit the American Cancer Society. You can purchase a CD at Holiday Happening or call the local ACS office at 806.792.7128.
