The Salvation Army of Lubbock held their 2011 Red Kettle Kick-Off Friday, a brief program to ring in another season of giving in Lubbock.

This event marked the beginning of The Salvation Army's Christmas fundraising efforts. You can donate at any of the Red Kettles locations around Lubbock.

New in Lubbock this year, the following Red Kettle locations are now accepting debit and credit card donations:

  • Hobby Lobby
  • JC Penny's
  • Market Street United (98th St.)
  • Sam's Club
  • United Supermarket (82nd St. and Frankford Ave.)
  • Women's Dillards (South Plains Mall)

The Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony at the Market Street United at 98th & Quaker.

Raider Red made the first Red Kettle donation. Coach Marsha Sharp was the inaugural bell ringer and Kimberly Wagner sang some Christmas favorites.

Lubbock Mayor Tom Martin will be ringing a bell out at Market Street from 5 p.m. to 6 on Friday.
