New Lubbock City Manager Has Long List Of Experience

While Lubbock may be new territory for new City Manager Lou Fox, he has a long history working with city government...40 years to be exact.

  • He first worked as a City Manager in Texas back in 1972 in the City of Orange.
  • After 5 years there, he was appointed Deputy City Manager of San Antonio.
  • He then took over as San Antonio's City Manager in 1982. Fox served as City Manager until 1990, working side by side with then Mayor Henry Cisneros. Under Fox, San Antonio transformed its downtown and riverwalk areas, making the city one of the leading tourism spots in the country.
  • Fox was also named National City Manager of the year in 1988.
  • From 1990 to 1998, Fox worked for Trinity University in San Antonio where he chaired the Department of Urban Administration.
  • In 1991, Fox started his own consulting business, Urban Advisory Services.
