New details reveal Connor Mercer, 17, had a blood alcohol content of .231, almost three times over the legal limit.
Lubbock Police Sgt. John Hayes says they still don't know why Mercer was lying in the road before he was hit on Upland Road near 87th Street on Oct. 30 at 3:30 a.m. Police say Mercer was at a party down the street and decided to walk home before he was found dead.
Hayes says the injuries that were not present showed more
than the injuries present. There were no injuries from the waist down, which indicated Mercer was lying in the road before he was hit.
Hayes says the person who called 911 that night was the person who hit Mercer. Police don't
believe speed was a factor in the accident., and no criminal charges will be filed against the driver.
TABC is continuing its investigation.
