Cops: K-9 unit took down would-be burglar

Posted: Updated:

Two men were arrested Tuesday in Southwest Lubbock after they tried to rob a house, police say.

Authorities were called out to the 4300 of 45th Street around 1:50 p.m. Tuesday. A witness said they saw two men jump the fence into the backyard of a home and kick in the door.

The suspects were still in the house while the police arrived. One of the men was immediately taken into custody, but the second suspect ran.

"The suspect that ran a couple blocks and was hiding in the storage shed refused to come out and comply with officers," Sergeant Jonathan Stewart said. "K-9 was used to take him into custody and he did suffer some dog bite injuries."

Sergeant Stewart also said the suspects did not take anything from the house.
