LISD Ready to Vote on Grade Configuration Change

On Thursday, parents across the city will learn if the Lubbock School Board will move 9th graders to the high school.

Under the proposed grade change plan, elementary school would consist of Kindergarten through 5th grade, junior high would be grades six through eight, and grades nine through 12 would be high school.

LISD says the proposal will allow the district to be more consistent with trends across the state and offer students more academic opportunities.

If the plan is approved, LISD will have to call a bond election and they hope to have the new grade changes in place by 2006.
