City officials are urging water conservation through ordinances, because Lubbock's main water supply is dwindling.
As of Wednesday, Lake Meredith is only 17% full. That's down from 22% in 2002.
While billions of gallons still remain in Lake Meredith, city officials estimate that in as few as two years we may be past the point of no return.
Lake Meredith supplies Lubbock with about 80% of the city's water.
