DPS Troopers are investigating a fatal accident that left an Anton man dead, and sent another to the hospital.
The accident happened about 12:30 Saturday afternoon at the intersection of Highway 84 and Frankford. Troopers say Steven Gossett, 42, of Anton, was headed west on Highway 84 in a yellow Dodge Neon, when he came to a stop at the stoplight, where the highway meets Frankford Avenue.
As he was waiting for the light to turn green, investigators say a Dodge SUV slammed into the back if him. That vehicle was driven by Rodolfo Perez, Jr., 43.
"Basically, the Dodge SUV never slowed down, he just ran into the back of the Dodge Neon. So, we don't know exactly what took place, or why. So we're still investigating the crash itself," Corporal John Gonzales, DPS, said.
Gossett died at the scene. Perez was transported to UMC. No word on Perez's condition.
