Overpasses are always among the first roadways to ice over, so you need to drive with caution. That's the lesson many Lubbock drivers learned the hard way around 7am Thursday morning.
A vehicle hit a fire truck causing a chain reaction along the Loop 289 overpass at the Brownfield Highway. Twelve cars were involved in the accident, forcing traffic detours and up to an hour delay.
Police say the initial vehicle slid on a patch of ice, so remember, overpasses freeze first because the cold air flows both under and over them.
