Property Tax Freeze Passes At First Reading

The Lubbock City Council is showing its support for a proposal to freeze property taxes for the elderly and disabled. Thursday the council passed the measure on its first reading.

The council will vote on the proposal again on February 5th. If it passes then, senior and disabled citizens would never see an increase in their city property taxes.

The change would take effect October 1, 2005.
