On
11/29/2011, DPS CID Agents dismantled a Major Criminal Enterprise and concluded
an 18-month investigation into a Methamphetamine trafficking organization
operating in Lubbock. DPS Agents arrested 7 individuals on warrants issued in Lubbock County
for charges including, engaging in Organized Criminal Activity, multiple
charges of Possession with intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, Possession of
Marijuana, Evading Arrest/Detention, Hindering Apprehension, and Unlawful
Possession of Firearm by a Felon.
An additional 8 people were arrested and
charged earlier in the investigation and some of those will face additional
charges. The arrest operations today
resulted in the seizure of Marijuana from 2 locations and 1 handgun from
another location. An additional suspect
from Dallas was
already in custody and has been federally indicted for Conspiracy to Distribute
Methamphetamine.
The
investigation revealed that associates of the LA FAMILIA MICHOACANA drug
trafficking organization in Dallas provided Methamphetamine
in multi-pound quantities to suspects in Lubbock
on a monthly basis for distribution in and around the South Plains. DPS Agents seized approximately 250 grams of
Methamphetamine; 1.4 pounds of Marijuana from an indoor grow operation, and
seized 2 handguns during the investigation.
Officers
from the Lubbock County Sheriff's Department, Lubbock Police Department, and
the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives assisted in various
stages of this investigation.
