Lubbock comes in at No. 3 on a Prevention Magazine list of the 8 most artery-clogging cities in the United States.
Citing a "preponderance of artery-clogging steakhouses and barbecue joints," Prevention identifies 32 percent of Lubbock residents as obese.
Prevention found good things to say about Fort Wayne, Indiana (No. 2) and even top-ranked Detroit: "A vibrant urban agriculture movement is transforming empty lots into veggie-filled community gardens, increasing access to fresh produce in neighborhoods where it was previously scarce," but found no silver lining for Lubbock.
Perhaps we should invite the editors down for a meal and show them that Lubbockites know how to handle their steak.
Here's the full list:
1. Detroit
2. Fort Wayne, Ind.
3. Lubbock, Texas
4. New Orleans
5. Dallas
6. Baton Rouge, La.
