Lubbock Bicyclist Hit Twice Last Summer Dies

Brett Walrath, the Lubbock man hit twice while riding his bicycle last summer, has died.

Attorney Charlie Dunn, who represents the Walrath family, told NewsChannel 11 that Brett Walrath died Tuesday morning as a result of injuries from an August 27th accident.

Walrath was riding his bicycle on the Loop 289 access road between Indiana and Quaker. According to police he was hit by 62-year-old Callie Long, who has since been charged with intoxication assault. The Walrath family has filed a lawsuit against Long and Outback Steakhouse where she was thought to have been drinking prior to the accident. The other driver who hit Walrath was not charged.

Brett Walrath leaves behind a wife and their first born son, Christopher.
