The driver was a little shaken up but fortunately not injured when his 44,000 pound truck tipped over at a Lubbock truck stop.
It happened on Monday just before 3 p.m. at the Rip Griffin Truck Stop in the 4600 block of Avenue A. According to officials at the scene 51-year-old Pedro Mercado of Plano was turning a corner when the rear wheels of his truck slipped into a drainage ditch. This caused his load of cotton bales to shift and turn the entire truck on its side.
The cotton load had to be removed before the trailer could be lifted back to its upright position.
