Lubbock Power and Light has been deemed a hazardous employer by the Texas Worker's Compensation Commission.
During the period of April 1st 2002 through March 31st 2003, seven injuries were reported by LP&L employees. "We had seven injuries for 256 employees which puts us one injury over the acceptable rate," said City of Lubbock Risk Manager, Leisa Hutcheson.
The injuries ranged from falls to a shattered elbow and an automobile accident. Now LP&L must complete a survey and implement a prevention plan. After the plan is in place, the Workers Compensation Commission will do an inspection.
LP&L was also cited as a hazardous employer in 1992 and 1998.
