Early morning fire destroys two structures, damages one

The Lubbock County Sheriff's Department is investigating an early morning fire in northeast Lubbock County north of Idalou.

Two structures were reported to be a total loss and a third structure was damaged at the intersection of County Road 3100 and 5700. Lieutenant Jason Stewart says the Idalou and New Deal fire departments responded around 4 a.m. He says no one was reported to be in the residence at the time.

Neighbors say the owner of the property lives in California, but several immigrants were renting one of the houses burned down. They say the residents left for Mexico about a week ago to see family which they frequently do.

At this time, the cause of the fire remains under investigation. If you have any information about the fire, you are asked to contact the Sheriff's department at 806-775-1480 or 806-775-1601.
