Liggett Law Group, a personal‐injury law firm, based in
Lubbock, Texas, is partnering with The Salvation Army of Lubbock for the
"Holidays For The Homeless" Facebook promotion.
Throughout the month of December, Liggett Law Group will
raise money for The Salvation Army's Emergency Shelter through their Facebook
page. Every weekday a question will be posted on the Facebook page and fan
interaction will directly influence how much money Liggett Law Group will give
to those without a home in the Hub City. Every time someone likes a status
update posted on the page, Liggett Law Group will donate $1. Every time someone
uploads a photo, Liggett Law Group will donate $2 and every time someone shares
an update with his or her friends, Liggett Law Group will donate $3, for a
maximum contribution of up to $1,000. The promotion began on Dec. 1 and will
run through Dec. 20. The Facebook page can be found at
www.facebook.com/LiggettLawGroup.
"This year we are in great need for the community's support
to help us help those who are in desperate need," says Major Mike Morton, Corps
Officer for The Salvation Army in Lubbock. "With uncertainty over the economy
and increasing job losses, we are thankful to our generous donors who make it
possible for us to meet the ever‐growing needs of our community." The Salvation
Army uses the funding raised at Christmas to help serve individuals year‐round
as well as during the holidays. The Red Kettle goal this year is $250,000 and
will help to provide Christmas toys for 4,320 children and food boxes to 2,125
families in need right here in Lubbock.
The Salvation Army, an evangelical part of the universal Christian
church established in London in 1865, has been supporting those in need in His
name without discrimination for 130 years in the United States. Nearly 30
million Americans receive assistance from The Salvation Army each year through
the broadest array of social services that range from providing food for the
hungry, relief for disaster victims, assistance for the disabled, outreach to
the elderly and ill, clothing and shelter to the homeless and opportunities for
underprivileged children. 82 cents of every dollar spent is used to support
those services in 5,000 communities nationwide. For more information, go to
