Possible Plea Deal in 1978 Plainview Murder - KCBD NewsChannel 11 Lubbock

An 83-year-old man accused of killing a woman in 1978 is expected to agree to a plea deal Friday in Plainview.

Margarito Hernandez spent 25 years on the run before turning himself in last summer. He's charged with the 1978 murder of Georgia Ruiz. A prosecutor in the case says the plea agreement would mean a 25-year prison term for Hernandez. Sentencing would come nearly three months after a Hale County judge rejected a 20-year prison deal.
