Former Texas Tech University professor Dr. Thomas Butler has relinquished his medical license.
Butler was convicted December 1st of 47 charges in a case that began when his report of missing plague vials sparked a nation-wide bioterrorism scare. The 62 year-old resigned from the Tech Health Sciences Center effective January 31st.
Butler is set to be sentenced in early March. He faces up to 240 years in prison and up to $11.7 million in fines. Butler voluntarily surrendered his medical license.
