LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Lubbock authorities have released the name of the McDonald's employee who admitted to starting a fire at work.
20-year-old Christian Trattles has been charged with Arson of a Building.
The Lubbock Fire Department responded to a structure fire at McDonald's, 8011 Slide Road, at 1:18 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 18. Employees of the restaurant reported a smell of smoke and evacuated.
Using an infra-red imaging camera to look for the source of the heat above the ceiling, crews located the source and extinguished the fire.
According to the Lubbock Fire Department, the employee provided a written confession during interrogation and faces up to twenty years in prison and up to $10,000 in fines plus paying restitution back to McDonald's Corporation.
Damage was limited to a small area of ceiling tiles.
