LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
Lubbock health inspectors were busy this week checking on
over thirty restaurants.
Of those, only six earn the status of top performer and one
of them ends up on the low performing list…with five critical violations.
Six Lubbock restaurants had flawless inspections, earning
them a spot at the top.
Caprock Café on 34th street was inspected on December 12 right
after the lunch rush. The inspector gave them a clean bill of health with no
critical violations.
Next, Chicken Express at 2309 82nd passed with flying colors
and is also a top performer.
Pizza Hut/Wing Stop at 3001 50th Street had an extra topping
of cleanliness during the time of their inspection. They also had a perfect
score.
Saigon Café, Too on 50th Street also hits the top performing
list. The inspector noted "great job!" on their report card.
Samburger's at 4447 34th was checked back on December 14th
and at they, too, are top performers.
And rounding out our top performing list is Taco Villa at
1911 50th Street.
Our low performer this week is Wienerschnitzel at 301 University
Avenue. Inspectors cited them with five critical violations including improper
handling of food. An employee was caught handing food with bare hands.
The inspector also cited Wienerschnitzel for allowing an ice
scoop to set on a dusty surface, and wieners were being stored at a temperature
not cold enough in the cooler. They found lettuce and jalapeños not properly
date marked to insure they are safe to eat. And finally, a panel inside the ice
bin was soiled. The inspection states that all critical violations were
corrected on site.
