LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -
The burn ban for Lubbock County was only lifted Thursday, but local residents wasted no time taking advantage of it.
Ken Kubica had a pile of old wood and trees on his property. He's been waiting to get rid of them for more than a year and was excited when he learned of the decision.
"I said: Oh boy! Haha! Don't matter how cold it is we gotta get this burned," Kubica said.
The lift on the burn ban means fireworks will go back on sale locally the day after Christmas.
However, it will still be illegal to set off fireworks within Lubbock city limits.
