University Medical Center announced Tuesday that an internal audit has discovered "possible employee embezzlement."

"As a result of the audit," UMC said in A press release, "Greg Bruce, UMC vice president of corporate services, resigned effective immediately."

UMC says they are cooperating with the FBI and U.S. Attorney in the investigation and will make no further statements until their investigation is complete.

According to UMC's website, Lubbock County taxes provided 4.6% of the hospital's operating budget in 2007.
