Lubbock Police have confirmed that two suspects in Monday night's fatal robbery at One Guy From Italy are in custody in Abilene. Sesilio Cabalero Lopez, 28, and Brian Suniga, 32 will be returned to Lubbock to face charges Wednesday.
The suspects were identified late Tuesday night and were apprehended in Abilene by the Taylor County Sheriff's Office. Both suspects were arrested on warrants for murder and are being held in Taylor County. Each has a $1,000,000 bond.
The LPD says they received a great of deal of assistance from the community through Crimeline, and it is due in large part to the help of those who called in and provided information that these men were apprehended as quickly as they were.
Tuesday evening at about 10:00 p.m., Texas DPS communications in Lubbock put out the information that the suspect vehicle - a tan Chevrolet Tahoe with hood damage - had been observed traveling south from Snyder on U.S. Highway 84, and a DPS operator in Abilene notified local police units of the vehicle approaching Taylor county.
Taylor County deputies observed the Tahoe traveling east on Interstate 20 and called for backup. The Tye Police Department and three units from the Texas Highway Patrol responded. The three agencies conducted a "felony stop" on the Tahoe at I-20 and Texas 351 exit (Ambler Street in Abilene). The two men were arrested without incident.
Tuesday was Suniga's birthday. Both suspects were reported to belong to the Tango Blast gang.
