Texas Tech and defensive coordinator Chad Glasgow have reached a mutual agreement that he will no longer serve on the TTU football staff.
Tech officials say they will begin the search for his replacement immediately.
This statement comes nine days after CBS Sports' Bruce Feldman reported Glasgow was fired:
"Just heard that Tommy Tuberville has fired Texas Tech DC Chad Glasgow. That's fourth assistant to go this off season there."
-- Bruce Feldman's Twitter: @BFeldmanCBS
Tech initially denied the report, saying Glasgow had not been fired.
Glasgow was hired in January after spending 10 years at TCU and turning the Horned Frogs into the top defense in the nation for three consecutive years.
However, Tech finished the year ranked ninth out of ten teams defensively in the Big 12 in both points-per-game and yards-per-game. The Glasgow-led defense also finished sixth from the bottom in the Football Bowl Subdivision in the same categories.
James Willis vacated the defensive coordinator post on December 25th, 2010.
This will be the Red Raiders' fourth defensive coordinator in four years.
