Burglary Attempt Ends When Lubbock Home Owner Catches Suspect

A Lubbock homeowner took the law into his own hands to apprehend a suspected burglar.

The incident occurred around 4:30 Wednesday morning in the 2200 block of 18th Street. Jeff Hillard says he went outside to his truck and when he returned to the house, he saw a strange man inside. He confronted the suspect and ended up chasing him for blocks, until police arrested the man.

While no one was injured, police discourage you from getting into this type of situation. "Get out of the house, call the police, whatever they take in your house is not worth your life," said Sgt. Casey with the Lubbock Police Department.

Police say the best thing you can do is pay attention to the suspect's appearance and be a good witness.
