The man nominated to be the next vice commandant of the Coast Guard set his anchor in Lubbock on Friday.
Currently, Vice Admiral Terry Cross is commander of the Coast Guard Pacific area. We caught up with him over lunch while he visited with Lubbock Mayor Marc McDougal and other city leaders.
While in town, Vice Admiral Cross is emphasizing the importance of the Coast Guard in commerce, economics, and the defense of the country. On Friday night, the Vice Admiral spoke about homeland security at the Texas Tech International Culture Center.
