Election filing for Lubbock's six races for city offices begins Monday.
Terms for Mayor Marc McDougal, District 2 Councilman T.J. Patterson, District 4 Councilman Frank Morrison, and District 6 Councilman Jim Gilbreath end in May. Morrison and Gilbreath have made official announcements to run again, and McDougal and Patterson have said they intend to seek re-election.
In addition to those races, a special election will be held for the District 1 seat that Councilman Victor Hernandez holds. Hernandez is resigning to run for municipal judge, and incumbent municipal Judge Robert Doty will also be seeking re-election.
Candidate filing continues until March 15. Prospective candidates must file for office at the city secretary's office in the Municipal Building at 1625 13th St. The election is May 15.
