Neugebauer weighs in on Republican nomination 'horse race'

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

Congressman Randy Neugebauer continued his tour of West Texas Friday, stopping for a tour of Wolfforth's new town hall.

Neugebauer is on a two-week tour of the district.

Friday he has spoke out about how he thinks the GOP presidential race is going.

"I've said all along this is a horse race and we've had five different horses leading this race at any given time," Neugebauer said.

When asked how he thinks Governor Rick Perry could gain some traction after his loss in Iowa, Neugebauer said Perry is a southern governor and he thinks he will focus on the southern states.

He also said Perry knows how to raise money, which will become more important as the race moves on.

Neugebauer says so far no one has a lock on the nomination.

The representative also says very soon the field of candidates will thin out.
