Applicants come forward to replace Comer on LISD Board

LUBBOCK, TX (KCBD) -

So far four people have applied to temporarily take over the Lubbock ISD Trustee position recently vacated by Chris Comer.  Comer left to take a job in another city.

As of Friday the applicants were Mark Blankenship, Eddie Kirkpatrick, Robert Lin, and Kathleen Nichols.

It is at least possible that the list might get longer because an LISD statement last month said, "Letters must be postmarked by January 6 to be considered."  So, the Post Office might deliver an additional name or two to the Lubbock ISD on Monday.

The written statement last month said, "The Board of Trustees will select a successor to fill the vacancy until a special election in May of 2012, when voters will select someone to fill the position until May of 2014."

Comer's district was generally east of Frankford Avenue, west of Highway 87, and south of Loop 289.

The issue is not on the Board of Trustees Agenda for January 12.  A January 26th meeting agenda was not yet available.
