Lubbock fugitive arrested after tip

Information From Texas Department Of Public Safety:

A Lubbock man, one of the DPS 10 Most Wanted Fugitives, was arrested after an anonymous phone tip that will bring the caller a $7,500 cash reward.

Terry Tyrell Lawson, 23, was arrested Friday evening by DPS Criminal Investigations Division Agents and Highway Patrol Troopers. He offered no resistance after he was located at an apartment complex at 2310 70th Street in Lubbock.

Lawson is a confirmed member of the Crips gang and was wanted for possession of a controlled substance and parole violations. Lawson has an extensive criminal history including manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of cocaine, evading arrest/detention, and unlawful carrying of a weapon.

Texas Crime Stoppers, which is funded by the Governor's Criminal Justice Division, offers cash rewards to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of one of the Texas 10 Most Wanted fugitives or sex offenders, http://www.txdps.state.tx.us/wanted/index.htm.

Anyone with information can provide anonymous tips in three different ways:

  • Call the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-252-TIPS (8477).
  • Text the letters DPS—followed by your tip—to 274637 (CRIMES) from your cell phone.
  • Submit a web tip through the DPS website by selecting the fugitive you have information about, and then clicking on the link under their picture.

All calls, texts or e-mails are anonymous, and tipsters will be given a tip number. You do not have to give your name.

Do not attempt to apprehend these fugitives yourself; they are considered armed and dangerous.
